Cup shaped, with a distinct stem, becoming disk shaped with age, yellowish brown to reddish brown, to about 15 mm across
Autumn to winter
On dead wood from deciduous trees, favouring oak but also hazel and alder
Spores cylindrical, 1-3 septa when mature, often with a small knob at each end (13-17) x (3-5) µm2. Asci 8 spored. Paraphyses filliform, septate, forked near the base.
