Microscopic Features

Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, dextrinoid (10-15) x (7-9) µm2. Basidia clavate, four spored. Hyphal system monomitic.

Notes

This fungus is a common cause of wet rot on structural timbers. C. arida, which occurs primarily on coniferous wood, but also on deciduous wood, is very similar. It has a pale yellow spore print.
