Pine Spike, Copper Spike

Cap

Convex with a central bump, smooth when dry, viscid when moist, brick coloured, about 3 to 12 cm across

Gills

Decurrent, distant, broad, buff to vinaceous, blackish with age

Stem

Cylindrical, coarsely scaly, vinaceous with a dark cotton web ring zone at the apex, reddish yellow towards the base

Vinaceous, yellow in the stem base
